Wearing white, unless you happen to live on a tropical Caribbean Island or on the edge of an Indian Ghat that borders the Ganges, seems to be a sticky fashion problem, and more so when it comes to wearing white shoes. So here are the white shoe rules:

1. wear low heeled, gun-soled (or soft cork) white wedge shoes, especially espadrilles, on any yacht any time of the year. You may also wear white loafers or white deck shoes.

2. wear white sports shoes or any style womens flat shoes on any walking tour anywhere in Asia, Africa, India, the Caribbean and most of Europe (at least any country near the Mediterranean).

3. wear white bedroom slippers, even white high heeled stilettos, on any honeymoon so long as you’re wearing white lingerie to match

4. wear white loafers inside the house any time of the year so long as you live alone and never have guests

5. wear high heeled white wedge shoes and sandals only between Memorial Day and Labor Day if you live in the USA. Canadians can wear white shoes all year so long as they don’t try to cross the border. (Well they can go to Mexico in white shoes, but not the US.)

6. wear white shoes and sandals in Spain, Italy and Greece any day of the year, but before entering France check with local immigration authorities, white may be a faux pas during certain haute couture fashion events.

7. white flat shoes can be worn on any wedding day any time of the year unless you are Chinese, Japanese or Korean.

8. white shoes or sandals with a high heel should never be worn with pants or jeans unless you also wear blue eye shadow and also have a red braw strap that is showing under your hot pink blouse.

9. wear white shoes when you want to attract attention; for example: wear 5 inch, high heel white wedge shoes when you want to attract a man who wears white shoes and a matching white belt and leaves the top three buttons of his white dress shirt unbuttoned

10. Remember: womens flat shoes in pure white will make your feet look larger, so if you have very small feet go ahead, otherwise, sizes 8 to 10 should give it a second thought.
