The Value of a Used Camper Van
The value of a used camper van may not be fully appreciated until it has been used a few times by the new owner.
Most used vehicles are in good condition and have been well maintained. Ones that have not been cared for usually show their mistreatment at first glance. A large amount of money can be saved by purchasing a well cared for used camper.
However, there is more of a benefit than just money saved. Many have had little extras added to them by their previous owners who have tried and tested their features. Even the highest quality new vans have not included the little additions that the owners have added to make life in them more comfortable and convenient. Just a few days on the road will reveal the small accessories that add up to a surprising large value.
Tires are another factor. Previous owners will commonly upgrade to a higher quality set of tires than was originally supplied with the vehicle. Some used camper vans come with air compressors, but many used vehicles have had them added by the owner so they could keep the tires properly inflated anywhere they stopped.
Waste removable and fresh water attachments are another area where previous owners have often made upgrades to the standard equipment.
A careful shopper may find one with a custom paint job or custom body accessories added to the vehicle. While the cost of all the extras may not be included in the price of a used vehicle, they greatly increase its value to the new owner.
Family vacations are taken for rest and relaxation but a certain amount of stress is involved in the planning and the unknown factors of reserved facilities. When vacationing or traveling in a camper van that stress is eliminated.
If the need to stop is reached before a campground or facility is available the problem is solved by having rest stops, and some large stores, allowing overnight stays in their parking lots. Used vehicles often have log books in them with notes and tips for finding proper places to park, and places to avoid.
In rainy or bad weather, meals and restroom breaks are often taken without having to exit the vehicle. Used vehicles will often have cup holders and flip down trays installed beyond what is stock offering occupants a larger choice of where to eat.
The value of a used camper van can go well beyond just the purchase price.
