The Giant Panda

The Giant panda is one of the most commonly recognized animals endangered in the world. These weird animals have become a universally adored animal and is present on the official logo of the WWF, which is a leading organization promoting public awareness as to the potential extinction of a wide number of animal species.

The future of the panda is difficult to determine. Because of recent technological advancement and population increase that China has experienced, the panda’s natural forest habitat is continually threatened. Roads cutting through bamboo forests, forestry industry, and human presence have all contributed to a drastic decline in Panda numbers. Illegal poaching has also played a relevant role in the reduction of panda population, although in China this practice is more uncommon than in other areas. There are less than 2,500 individual specimens left in the wild. However, in recent years the Chinese government has established a number of different reserves throughout the nation where pandas are free to roam, live, and breed untouched by human society. Depending on the results of these efforts, the future of the panda may be brighter.

The panda is not one of those freaky weird animals that has a tendency to scare people away. Pandas are remarkably docile and calm, and unlike other bears they are fully herbivore. They like to eat bamboo stalks and other plant species, and are usually quite shy of humans. They will avoid any sort of contact with people unless they are directly provoked or attacked. Their friendly faces and playful antics make them a particular favorite among children throughout the world.

In conclusion, pandas are being threatened by a number of adverse effects caused by humanity. It would be a shame to lose such an attractive animal species, as it has become adored by millions of people on the planet.
