Perfect Giveaway Baby Shower Item
Baby socks are designed to keep those tiny feet warm and comfortable. With cute and adorable designs, they are also versatile pieces that can go with almost all of your baby’s clothes, making her look adorably stylish while being protected. But while primarily a functional item, baby socks can in fact be made into wonderful decorations and favors for baby occasions. With a little ingenuity and a lot of practical sense, you can transform these cute little pieces of necessity into a unique gift item that is sure to earn your guests’ non-stop swooning and sighs.
A pair of baby socks can be made into charming faux rose bud corsages perfect as a gift or giveaway items for guests on baby showers, birthday parties, christening, baptism and other important events in your baby’s life. If you add a stem, they can even make for a unique and amazing centerpiece on your reception or party tables. Choose pastel colors since they are the most suitable for babies, girly pink socks for baby girls and blue socks for little boys. Moreover, they are completely reusable as you can simply take out the stem and actually use the socks for your babies after.
Place the sock in front of you with the cuff at the top. Roll the toe tightly to create the center part of the bud. Continue rolling as you do with your socks in laundry. When you reach the cuff, flip it back on itself and over the “bud.” Do it in a way that most of the rose buds will be sticking out for an authentic rose feel. Baby socks with lace will provide as pretty petals around the bud.
Then cut a piece of floral wire about 12 inches long. Gently squeeze the bottom tip of the rose bud and tightly wrap an end of the wire around the tip, leaving about half or 6 inches of the wire still fully straight. For the corsage, cut a 6-inch “chenille” stem. To create a long-stemmed rose, use a floral stem wire or be creative by recycling from an old silk rose. Then put the chenille stem or the floral stem against the extra 6 inches of the wire.
Wrap a floral tape around the wire to make it look pretty and authentic. Wrap the wire down to the tip, not leaving any uncovered part. For the long-stemmed rose bud, place the stem of a silk rose leaf against the corsage rose bud or about 1/3 of the way down the stem. Wrap another floral tape around the leaf stem and the stem of the rose bud for both parts to attach.
Curl the corsage stem around a paint brush or pencil to give it a curved look. Cut about 12 inches of a ¼ wide satin ribbon and make a bow design around the base of the bud on either the corsage or the stemmed rose. For the final touch, use a diaper pin to attach the corsage and a vase for the stemmed rose.
