Marketing the Mirdle
Marketing departments love to come up with cute names that stand out so the public remembers a product. If the term “mirdle” is thrown out as a topic of conversation, would you know what people are talking about? Chances are, you can come up with a pretty good idea.
The mirdle is a mens girdle. Whereas the girdle was soley thought of as women’s underwear, turn about is fair play as men have decided that they want the advantage of hiding their unsightly love handles as well. Can you blame them really to have instantly slimming underwear without working for it?
There are a lot of reasons why girdles for men are finding acceptance in society. Perhaps it is due to the fact we live in an obese society so there’s more a market for it. Perhaps we are becoming more lax in blurring gender lines of what is traditional men’s and women’s attire. Or perhaps men are just becoming more vain about their looks. Look at the stylish young men who call themselves metrosexuals.
In any case, there is obviously a need for mens girdles and it goes beyond pushing the men’s fashion envelope. Girdles for men are great for health reasons as well. Due to the compression in the waist area, it promotes proper back posture and helps stabalize the spine. For those older men who used to be star athletes, girdles shouldn’t be a foreign item for them to wear. In fact, it is quite common for athletes to wear protective or supportive underwear during games. However, you can now wear girdles for everday purposes and they are comfortable enough that you can wear them all day long.
As a guy, whether you are wearing girdles for health or fashion reasons, stock up on them in your underwear drawer because mirdles are the next big thing in men’s clothing if marketing departments have anything to do with it.
