How To Have A Cookie Monster Birthday Party

Cookie Monster birthday parties are a blast.  I thrown two of them now for my kids (that’s how good it was!) and both times we had a lot of fun.  In this post I want to share with you some of the different things that we did, and how to decorate the Cookie Monster cake pan.

A birthday party like this revolves around one thing: Cookies!  We’ve done this two different ways, the first time around I baked the cookies before hand and we had a cookie eating competition.  That turned out to be a bad idea, because kids probably shouldn’t try to slam as many cookies as possible that fast.  No one choked, but the parents weren’t too happy.  The second, and more successful time, I baked some simple sugar cookies the night before and we all decorated them.  This went really well, but made a mess.  We did it outside to save the dining room floor, but the ants were crawling around for weeks to come!

I know that I’m a bad parent and had cookies and cake, but it’s a birthday party!  Finding this cake pan wasn’t tough even though it’s been retired for quite some time.  I was able to find it on eBay for only $15.  Decorating it was also pretty easy, but it does take a little bit of skill with the icing bag to keep it looking neat.  He’s essentially all one color blue with white eyes and a white chef’s hat.  I did the eyes last so that I could smooth them down with a wet finger, which gave it a very “real” look, as real as Cookie Monster can look!

Both birthday parties were a hit, but there wasn’t much for party supplies unless I used generic Sesame Street ones.  I did that the first time, but went with regular napkins and party hats the second time around.

I hope that you’re able to have as much fun as we did with out Cookie Monster birthday party.  Don’t be scared to have cookies and cake, they only get one birthday a year!
