How to Change your Trailer Lights

One of the most important factors about driving is visibility. Having lights on the front of your vehicle is important while driving in conditions where there is low visibility. LED lights are especially helpful for visibility at nighttime because they are much brighter than normal incandescent lights.

Having LED trailer lights will help keep you safer, especially if you drive a lot during the night. However, eventually your trailer lights will wear out and need to get replaced. Changing LED lights on your trailer is quite simple and you will likely be able to do the job yourself. You should have some basic competence about electricity but aside from that it is just as simple as changing a light bulb in your kitchen.

The first task is to loosen both covers that the LED lights are in. You may need a set of specialized tools for this task depending on the style of lights, in some cases all you will need is a screwdriver. Handle the encasing with care and make sure it does not break or get scratch.

Remove any of all LED’s that have been burned out. You should do this for all of your trailer lights. After, install the new lights according to the instructions given by the manufacturer. You will need to be sure that the lights have exactly the same color and power requirements as the previous lights did.

To test the lights, pump the brakes a few times so they will turn on. Make sure all the lights are working and are the right color. If there any problems it may be a result of a loose connection or faulty wire in the car frame, you could also try to tighten the bulb slightly. If you are having further problems, try doing a search online to find an led trailer lights guide. After they are all working, put the casings back on the front of trailer.
