Houston Wedding Receptions and Venue

Choosing a location for you wedding reception is one of the most expensive and important decisions you’ll make when planning the event. It can also be extremely stressful if you don’t follow certain guidelines and make sure you have all the information before hand. Wedding venues in Houston and other large cities may need to be reserved over a year in advance, so make sure that when planning a wedding this is the first thing you take care of. Ideally, you should select a location immediately after getting a good idea of everyone who’s coming. The reason for this is to determine both how large you need the location to be, and what packages you can afford based on how many people are coming.

One of the questions that people often neglect to ask when contacting their venue, is how many events are held there at the same time. Obviously the less the better, as other event may impact both the ambiance and volume of your reception. Unfortunately, wedding locations that are reserved exclusively for one reception may be slightly more expensive. If these are out of your budget, then at least ask plenty of questions about what measures are taken to avoid wedding crashing, and how they plan to keep them as separate as possible.

When choosing a location you should first research on the internet, in magazines, and by word of mouth. Once you’ve got around 20 or 30 locations, then conduct phone interviews. You can find lists of all the necessary questions to ask online, but mostly they concern parking, catering, and maximum capacity. Once you have narrowed down your list this way visit all the sites. It may be a good idea to bring a few trusted members of your wedding party for second opinions. Don’t let their ideas sway you too much, as you do want your reception to reflect you, but they may be able to bring to light some things you wouldn’t normally think of. When planning Houston wedding receptions, or those elsewhere in Texas and the rest of the country, be sure to make your search specific to your location. If you don’t you’ll waste time eliminating those that are states away.
