Great Dane Dog Beds

Great danes will inevitably try to claim any and all furniture in your house if you let them. This includes the bed, the couches and even outdoor furniture. By blue great dane looks at me with resentment if I tell him he is not allowed on the furniture. My harlequin great dane is a little more likely to disregard my attempt to limit her furniture time and persist with what she wants, women.

I have found that in order to keep my furniture hair free and smelling good it is essential that my poor beasts have options besides the floor, because after all they are too good for the floor. This means getting them dog beds or recycling old furniture for the danes.

I have found that it can be hard to find a great dane dog bed. Most beds just are not big enough to accommodate a 130+ pound animal. Especially when there is only one dog bed and they feel the need to share. I have come up with a couple of options for giving my pets a good place to rest their heads.

First is the regular dog bed, Mainly just a piece of foam or some other type of padding that lays on the floor. The dogs like these, but I do not, they are ugly and I tend to trip over them, and I find that I usually need two of them, so they take up a ridiculous amount of space. I do concede were other options fail and go ahead and put these in low traffic areas. I find that these only last a couple of months before they are just not worth trying to clean.

Next option and this is the one I like is to modify existing furniture to be pet friendly. This means putting covers on cushions or buying pet friendly cushions, that are easy to wash and don’t hold smells. I personally like cushions that zip off for easy washing.

The benefit of doing this is that your great danes have comfortable place to lay down, you have something that looks like furniture and can be used as furniture if need be. It also eliminates the need to buy additional dog furniture.

If this is your plan of action it is imperative that you draw the line between your dane’s furniture and your furniture. Trust me they are smart enough to know the difference, but great danes can be quite stubborn, so on with the training.
