Computer Laser Printer or Inkjet Printer – Which One Do You Use?
It is common nowadays for households to have two kinds of papers. Before, most households only had inkjet printers because they are cheaper. Today, anyone can purchase a computer laser printer since printer companies have made an effort to make them more economical. If you have two types of printers at home, you need to know when to use each one of them. This articles aims to discuss scenarios that will lead you to using one of the two printers. Also, by knowing the difference of both printers, you can also decide for yourself which one you really need to use.
Printing Photos
Printing photos has always been the job of inkjet printers until the existence of colored laser printers. This doesn’t mean though that a computer laser printer can do a better job than an inkjet printer can. Laser printers are at their best when printing on ordinary paper. However, in the case of photo paper, laser printers may not have the same result. Because laser printers use heat to transfer ink to the paper, it is not advisable to use glossy paper and photo papers are usually glossy. Inkjet printers also have higher resolutions compared to laser printers. Most laser printers have a maximum resolution of around 1200dpi. Inkjet printers, on the other hand, can reach up to 9600dpi. In other words, stick to inkjet printers if you’re printing photos.
Printing Professional Documents
Inkjet printers may have higher resolutions compared to laser printers. However, laser printers can print crisper text. The black text produced by laser printers is darker than the text produced by inkjet printers. Texts are also cleaner since the ink used in laser printers is dry. Laser printers are known for their accuracy because they use electrons in transferring ink. In the case of inkjet printers, if you happen to use ordinary paper, there is a possibility that there will be inkblots once the paper absorbs the wet ink.
Making Drafts
This scenario is somehow your judgment call. You can save the ink of your inkjet printers if you use the laser printer. However, you might need the laser printer for heavier jobs. You can also use the laser printer but it requires more power to operate. In other words, it has more electricity consumption. So, it is up to you to decide which one to use. Both options have their pros and cons.
In A Hurry
Obviously, if you’re in a hurry and you need a lot of printing to do, the best choice for you is the laser printer. Laser printers can print as high as 200 pages in one minute. This however is for industrial laser printers. Though laser printers at home don’t have this speed, we are just trying to emphasize the difference in their speed. Plus, you don’ t have to wait for your work to dry up since the prints done by laser printers are already dry to begin with.
Hopefully, after reading this article, you will be knowledgeable enough to discern which printer is the best choice for certain printing jobs.
