Andy Warhol began his painter career as a commercial artist in New Your City. In the beginning of his career and in his famous illustrations for Miller shoes that he constantly use blotted ink drawings. And that painting was later featured in “Shoes, Shoes, Shoes.” There were also other works that were publishing in booklets – i.e “Yum, Yum, Yum”, that was mainly about food or “Ho, Ho, Ho” that was mainly about Christmas.

In 1960s he started drawing well known culture images and then incorporates his experience from commercial art. We all know about famous Campbell`s Soup Can portrait, because it is one of his famous paintings. It was drawn in 1962, and it was consisting of 32 cans of tomato soup which in one place were measuring around 20 inches in height and 16 inches in width. He doesn`t use a specific painting style and instead it was produced in a semi-mechanized silkscreen.

There were also another famous paintings that were centered on well-known culture items like Coca cola bottle, dollar bills, and mostly portraits of famous people – Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Troy Donahue. They were one of the most important people of his age and each of his pieces of art represented his idea and social commentary on popular culture.

Most of the time he used bright colors when he draw his paintings, because his main aim was to capture darker themed subjects like suicide and disaster, which were one of the main social problems of his time. That can be seen in one of the most famous Andy Warhol paintings – Death and Disaster, where her transformed personal dragedy into a public spectacle. He liked that painting and after that he always uses this style for example when drawing the portrait of Marilyn Monroe, so the public and society will know that this was his work.
