3-Day Detox Diet

The rationale of a detox diet is to flush toxins from the body. A 3 day detox diet can reduce or eliminate health problems caused by a build up of toxins in our body system. Some of these health problems include digestive problems, skin problems, kidney problems, and liver problems. A three day detox diet can do good to people with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease.

Detox plan
The 3-day detox diet is a good quick beginning plan headed for detoxification. Each morning when you get up drink a cup of warm water and ½ lemons squeezed in it to stimulate your gastric juices instead of the usual cup of coffee.

Day 1

The diet involves drinking a 6-oz. sugar-free protein shake every two hours. Dinner is a salad made of leafy-green vegetables and topped with lean chicken or fish and lemon juice/olive oil dressing. The first day sets up your metabolism for the next two days, at the same time as allowing you to burn up the excess fat already in your body.

Day 2 and Day 3
The protein shakes are substituted with a serving of fresh fruit. Again, dinner comprises a salad and a protein shake. It is recommended to avoid adding starchy vegetables, such as potatoes, into the salad. Aside from that, fruits must always be fresh and if at all possible organic. Fruits should not be preserved, dried, canned or frozen. The last couple of days cleanses and rejuvenates your system with the fiber, vitamins and water contained in the fruits and vegetables. In addition to the above mention plan transformation in your diet you need to have two doses of kidney and liver tonics over the 3-day detox diet period. Choose from the following kidney and liver tonics:

  • two cups of dandelion
  • a clove of fresh garlic
  • chamomile or fennel tea
  • pure vegetable juice like carrot or beetroot, a medium bunch of black grapes
  • two cups of parsley or yellow tea

You can count as your water intake and other fluids made of fresh fruit juices such as apple and orange. Before going to bed drink a cup of herbal tea. The idea is to increase your fluid intake by ingesting more water, juices, fruits, and vegetables.
